Silhouette Portraits

I have been wanting to do silhouette portraits of the ginger princes for awhile now, but could never really figure out how to do it easily.  I didn't want them to (and they just couldn't) stand in front of a white backdrop while I traced there little heads.  So I scoured the internet and came up with an adaptation of what I knew I was capable of doing.

First, I took a picture of the princes while standing in front of our sliding glass doors.  The contrast of the great outdoors, and them in front, made for a great profile.

Next, I printed out the pictures on my desk-jet printer.  I then cut out the pictures and them inverted them on a piece of black card stock and traced the picture with chalk.

I cut out the profile, inverted them again, and then popped them into a frame with a piece of scrapbook paper behind.

I love the way it turned out and the project only took me an hour to complete.  I know that these will be timeless pieces we will have for many years to come.  And, I can change out the background to suit my needs!
